Seat Exeo, revealed back in 2008 at the Paris Auto Show will get a new version: the ST (Sport Tourer). According to the company sales will begin before next summer with an engine range and equipment list that is identical to the for-door model. The only differences will be a longer body, at 4.666 metres in length, and a boot capacity of 442 litres.
The SEAT Exeo ST offer, as well as the sedan, includes six engine choices, three petrol and three Diesel equipped with common rail technology for the first time. The entire range complies with stringent EU5 emissions legislation, and is available in three trim levels – Reference, Style and Sport. Both versions will be manufactured at the company’s factory in Martorell, near Barcelona.
The new model features greater storage volume compared to the sedan by allowing objects to be loaded up to the ceiling. The Exeo ST is also equipped with an upper cargo net that increases safety by preventing objects from falling into the passenger compartment.
Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show last October, the Spanish brand’s sporty SEAT Exeo sedan has paved the way for the company’s entry into the mid-sized sedan B segment, and is currently going on sale in different markets.
At the same time, SEAT is introducing the family version of the new model. The same as with the sedan, it combines luxury, comfort and spaciousness with the traditional sports philosophy that characterises all the SEAT models. Named Exeo ST, the station wagon version of the new Exeo will go on sale before next summer, and its engine range and equipment list will be identical to those of the four-door version. The only differences lay in the length of the body, which is 4.666 metres long, and the boot volume, of 442 litres. But the new Exeo ST goes one better in terms of practicality and functionality. Its family styling and new rear hatch increase load capabilities and comfort, with broader access and a flat cargo area.
Besides, the new model features greater storage volume compared to the sedan by allowing objects to be loaded up to the ceiling. The Exeo ST is also equipped with an upper cargo net that increases safety by preventing objects from falling into the passenger compartment.
■ Seat Ibiza Black
Seat UK added a new special edition to its line-up: the new special edition Ibiza Black. It will be limited to only 150 units, each priced at £12,345.
Based on the already elegant Ibiza 5dr 1.4 Sport, the new special edition adds unique front and rear bumpers, side skirts, striking tailgate roof spoiler and arch-filling 17” alloys. There are also dark tinted rear windows and, of course, that eye-catching paint job: Black Magic metallic.
The Ibiza Black is powered by a 1.4-litre 85 PS petrol engine mated to a smooth and precise five-speed manual gearbox. A top speed of 108 mph and 0-62 mph time of 12.2 seconds sits alongside combined CO2 emissions of just 149 g/km and impressive combined fuel economy of 45.6 mpg.
Black is the new white – when it comes to the latest style statement from sassy Spaniards SEAT, at least.Just one short year ago SEAT was blazing a color-coded trail through the UK’s drab street scenes with its phenomenally successful Leon Cupra K1 – one of the trend-setting cars of the last 12 months and especially striking in what has quickly become its trademark hue, Candy White.Today, the Spaniards are once again leading the way on car colors. This time, it’s the turn of the new special edition Ibiza Black to turn heads.Based on the already elegant Ibiza 5dr 1.4 Sport the limited edition newcomer – in showrooms now and strictly limited to just 150 examples nationwide – adds a raft of smart extras to the standard supermini’s chic shape. The extensive styling extras include unique front and rear bumpers, side skirts, striking tailgate roof spoiler and arch-filling 17” alloys. There are also dark tinted rear windows and, of course, that eye-catching paint job: Black Magic metallic, to be precise.Add discrete but effective tailgate badging and the car’s smart credentials are clear for all to see.Priced at £12,345 RRP, the limited edition Ibiza Black of course sports the same top notch quality, practicality, safety and equipment as the standard Ibiza 5dr Sport – meaning a class-leading package of value, as well as style.Air conditioning, sports seats, electric windows all round, six-speaker radio/MP3-compatible CD with steering column-mounted remote controls and Aux-in socket, leather steering wheel and gearknob, body-colored heated and electrically adjustable door mirrors, trip computer and integrated front fog lights with cornering function: these are just a selection of the Ibiza Black’s standard fit kit.Driver and front passenger airbags plus head-thorax front side airbags, front passenger airbag disconnection, seatbelt reminder chimes, rear seat ISOFIX child seat points with Top Tether anchoring and remote central locking keep the SEAT and its occupants safe and secure. The limited edition offering has the ‘go’ to match its ‘show’ courtesy of a free-revving 1.4-litre 85 PS petrol engine mated to a smooth and precise five-speed manual gearbox. A top speed of 108 mph and 0-62 mph time of 12.2 seconds sits alongside combined CO2 emissions of just 149 g/km and impressive combined fuel economy of 45.6 mpg.Combine that with a particularly low insurance group – 3E – and it’s easy to see why SEAT is confident the Ibiza Black will appeal to the head, as much as the heart, of today’s cost-conscious new car buyers.Andy McGregor, SEAT UK’s Ibiza Product Manager, said of the high fashion newcomer: ‘Building on the great lines of the existing Ibiza 5dr with the addition of a sporty body kit and larger alloy wheels has allowed us to create a very impressive offering.‘The obvious appeal, particularly for younger buyers who want to keep a lid on insurance costs but don’t want to sacrifice style, means I expect the Ibiza Black won’t be around in showrooms for long!’

As announced few months ago, Seat will manufacture two new C/D-segment models at its plant in Martorell. One of them will come to replace the unsuccessful Toledo and will be called Bolero. It will be unveiled in 2009. A concept versions will be unveiled at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show.
The 2009 Bolero will be built on the same platform as the Audi A3, Volkswagen Golf and Seat Leon. Its design will be inspired by the Tribu Concept car unveiled last year at the Frankfurt Auto Show.
The Bolero name was used for the first time in 1998, when Seat launched the Bolero Concept, a four seater, two door coupe powered by a 2.8 liter bi-turbo engine that delivers 330 bhp.
More about the 2009 Bolero after the jump.
To be similar in size with the Skoda Octavia, the Bolero will feature a spacious cabin, courtesy of a longer wheelbase. Under the hood there will be a choice of four petrol engines, for sure the Group’s latest 1.4 TSI and 2.0 TFSI engines. A very possible choice is a new evolution of the 1.4-litre VW-built turbo and super- charged unit that delivers 180 hp. There will also be a 1.8 liter TFSi engine that will deliver 160 hp and a 2.0 liter TFSi engine that will deliver 200 hp. Diesel engins will range from 105 to 170 hp.

When they took the decision to build a new model, Seat chairmain Erich Schmitt said: "The assignment of the two new C/D-segment models to the plant in Martorell is an historic step for SEAT. By these means, we enlarge our current product range, which does not only give our clients the possibility to grow with the brand, but also enables us to increase the profitability of our dealer network thanks to the availability of these new models."
Sales will begin in the spring of 2009; price around 18.000 euro ($26.500).

Seat today unveiled first images and details of the 2009 Ibiza, model previewed by the SportCoupe Bocanegra Concept unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show.
Longer than the current model – the new Ibiza breasts the tape at 4.05 m, versus the existing car’s 3.97 m – it’s markedly more capacious, too, with improved rear seat legroom and a significantly larger and more practical boot space which, at 292 litres with rear seats in place, is comfortably the largest in the supermini class.
Sitting on a new version of the renowned Ibiza ‘Agile Chassis’, with wider front and rear tracks (30 mm and 33 mm respectively) the new car looks and feels even more ‘planted’, and delivers both a composed ride and class-leading, sporty handling.
Debuting with a range of potent, proven powerplants, the Ibiza five-door promises both strong performance and outstanding economy. Beneath the bonnet, this front-wheel drive motor will initially offer three petrol engine options: either a characterful 1.2-litre three cylinder 70 PS; flexible 1.4-litre 85 PS four cylinder or sporty 1.6-litre four cylinder 102 PS.
All three come mated as standard to a sweet-shifting five-speed manual gearbox, and all have undergone engineering modifications to ensure emissions fall comfortably below 160 g/km.
The new Ibiza bursts onto the scene full of energy and youthful dynamism, but true to its origins. It’s an innovative proposal whose precision quality, sportiness and new "Arrow Design" concept combine perfectly with high levels of safety and comfort. The car shows how well the new platform developed by the VW Group for this segment adapts to the Spanish maker’s newcomer. To be produced exclusively in the Martorell facilities, the most modern technologies have been applied on the new generation Ibiza in all the manufacturing stages, resulting in a development time shortened by 14 months compared to the previous Ibiza and featuring the use of virtual models in the initial stage, instead of the traditional physical models.

Seat revealed today the first official images of the Ibiza SportCoupe that will make its world debut at the London Motor Show in July.
The Ibiza SportCoupe will be powered by 105 hp 1.6 liter engine mated by the new seven-speed DSG gearbox. This new, twin-clutch automatic transmission provides the Ibiza with greater acceleration. Besides, this system produces remarkable fuel consumption, since the seventh gear is ideal for long motoring trips.
The new three-door Ibiza has a length of 4.034 meters and mere 1.428 meter height to match its temperament, lending the car agility and comfort both in the city and on the motorway.
The new Ibiza SportCoupe will be manufactured exclusively at SEAT’s Martorell factory near Barcelona and will be available in three trim levels – Reference, Stylance and Sport, with an outstanding standard equipment list from the entry-level model. In the near future, the model’s ecological ECOMOTIVE, FR and Cupra versions will also make their appearance.

Without a doubt, the arrival of the new SEAT Ibiza SportCoupe raises the bar of sportiness on its newest model, combining impressive, vanguard exterior design with exceptional dynamic qualities and a wide range of engine choices, which now includes the efficient 80 hp 1.4 and 90 hp 1.9 Diesel versions. Besides, with a seven-speed DSG gearbox making its debut in this segment, the Ibiza range features a novelty that provides it with greater response and excellent driving comfort.
The deep-rooted SEAT sports concept is maximised in the Ibiza SportCoupe thanks to its compact coupé body, with a length of 4.034 metres and mere 1.428 metre height to match its temperament, lending the car agility and comfort both in the city and on the motorway. Likewise, the new VW Group platform designed for this segment also favours the dynamic qualities of the new SEAT Ibiza SC. Design, quality and precision quality are three of the elements that distinguish the brand’s new model highlighting the new “Arrow Design” concept characterised by a lower positioning of the headlights and radiator grille for a sportier look.
Painstaking interior and exterior detailing on the new Ibiza SC include the dashboard, the instrument panel, ventilation nozzles and central console, which houses the audio equipment and Bluetooth connection which can be accessed via controls located on the steering column.

The Ibiza CUPRA is the fastest and most powerful addition to the Ibiza collection. It is powered by a 180 hp 1.4 TSI twin-charger engine mated to a seven speed DSG gearbox with levers on the steering wheel.
The new Ibiza CUPRA features an exclusive design with a spectacular front end where the “Arrow Design” concept lends maximum expressivity, especially due to the newly designed bumper, featuring the air intake vents surrounding the central grille, and the overall athletic looks, with its outstanding 17” alloy wheels, prominent shoulders that house the rear lights, and the newly designed, centrally placed trapezoid tailpipe.
The sport seats mold themselves around the driver. The sport suspension makes for an irresistibly active handling of the vehicle. The gas and break pedals are fitted with matte aluminum covers. The steering wheel and gearstick are finished in top quality leather. The folding door mirrors are in shiny black and bumpers match the body color.
Less than six months after its launch, the new Ibiza range has expanded with the arrival of two new versions that combine distinct sports character with the commitment to environmental sustainability. In the first, innovative design and technology join character and exclusivity in the Ibiza CUPRA, a vehicle whose adrenaline rush is provided by the 180 hp 1.4 TSI twin-turbo engine and the 7-speed DSG gearbox with steering wheel shift-paddles. In turn, the attractive ECOMOTIVE version is the most ecological of its segment thanks to its reduced CO2 emissions figure of only 99 g/km

The second Ibiza version launched this week by Seat is Ecomotive, the most ecological car of its segment (CO2 emission is just 99 g/km). Official debut will be made at the Paris Auto Show.
Available in both the 5-door and SportCoupé versions, the Ibiza Ecomotive is equipped with a three cylinder 80 hp 1.4 TDI with DPF particulate filter which not only allows the engine to reduce emissions under the 100 g/km mark, but also reduces fuel consumption.
Following the perfect tread marks traced by its predecessor, the new Ibiza ECOMOTIVE will be launched at the Paris Motor Show with a revamped styling and the reputation of being the most ecological car of its segment, by placing the CO2 emissions level at only 99 g/km. These figures will also allow customers to save on registration tax when buying the new Ibiza ECOMOTIVE.Available in both the 5-door and SportCoupé versions, the Ibiza ECOMOTIVE is equipped with the 80 hp 1.4 TDI with DPF particulate filter which not only allows the engine to reduce emissions under the 100 g/km mark, but also reduces fuel consumption.Undoubtedly, the updated engine software contributes to achieving these results, as well as improvements to the gearbox and the gear ratios, the new 175/70 R14 tyres, the 14” wheels with hubcaps and, as on the previous model, the replacement of the spare wheel with an antipuncture kit.Another aspect which was closely studied to reduce fuel consumption and emissions figures was the aerodynamics of the car. The new ECOMOTIVE version of the Ibiza incorporates several solutions, such as the new closed front grille and new rear spoiler that combine to reduce resistance to movement and therefore decrease mechanical effort as well as fuel consumption and emissions. As for the interior equipment, the ECOMOTIVE has the same comfort and safety elements as on the rest of the Ibiza range, in this case with the Reference finish. Both the new Ibiza ECOMOTIVE and the CUPRA will be manufactured exclusively at the SEAT plant in Martorell near Barcelona.

Seat unveiled at the Paris Auto Show the Exeo, a new middle class sedan. Seat calls the car a "limousine" but more in the sense of long-wheel base and less in the "Jeeves bring the car around" idea. The Europe only Exeo will go on sale in spring of 2009 at a price of €22,000.
Seat is part of the Volkswagen group, and like the rest of its offerings, the Exeo will be based on other designs in the Family. But for the first time the Exeo will spawn from a premium platform, the Audi A4. The new Exeo will be launched with three gas engines (from 102 HP to 200 HP) and three common rail Diesel engines of latest generation (from 120 HP to 170 HP). Five of these six engines are turbo engines. All six Exeo engines fulfil the future Euro 5 emissions standard.
On the Paris Motor Show (04th - 19th of October) SEAT presents for the first time the new Exeo to the international public. By this new sporty middle class limousine, the Spanish car manufacturer extends its model range, offering for the first time a limousine in the important B-segment.
Erich Schmitt, the SEAT President affirms, regarding the target group for the new vehicle: “With the Exeo we are offering a car for dynamic and sporty drivers of the B segment. Furthermore now we have a vehicle for our current customers who are ascending from the A segment. The Exeo is also an interesting alternative for quality aware company car drivers who are looking for driving fun but who are cost aware and pay attention to low fuel consumption and low emissions.” The most important characteristics of this about 4,60m long sporty limousine are the dynamic and elegant design, a very agile and secure conduction, high comfort and a dynamic and environmental sound engine range. The new EXEO will be launched with three petrol-engines (from 75kW / 102 HP to 147 kW / 200 HP) and three common rail Diesel engines of latest generation (from 88 kW / 120 HP to 125 kW / 170 HP). Five of these six engines are turbo engines. This means: more performance but less fuel consumption and less emission. All six EXEO engines fulfil the future Euro 5 standard.

Seat, the Spanish cousin in the Volkswagen family, is not always missed on these shores, but this is different. This week it revealed a sportier version of the Leon hatchback: the Linea R. Like most Seats, this reaches deep into VW’s parts bin, and in this case it came up with a few winners.
The car comes with the option of two gas engines a 160 hp 1.8 TSI and 200 hp 2.0 TSI from the GTI. The 2.0 can be had with either a manual or DSG twin clutch automatic gearbox. If you still need an oil burner, a 170 hp 2.0 TDI diesel can also be had.
Standard equipment include: ABS and TCS, ESP, low tyre pressure warning, double front airbag, side front airbags and headbags, foglights, dual zone climate control, cruise control, CD MP3 radio and aux-in, and 8 speakers.
The attractive SEAT León range has been extended with the arrival of the highly exclusive Línea R version. With its powerful, seductive image, this new trim level boosts the León’s sporty looks and the result is a unique, spectacular car whose appeal stems from its imposing design, specific detailing and efficient engine range. There are two petrol and one diesel engine versions responsible for powering the new León version. The first is the efficient 170 hp 2.0 TDI diesel which, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, delivers exceptional performance and provides reduced fuel consumption figures, making it an extremely interesting choice. The SEAT León Línea R petrol engine range includes none other than the 160 hp 1.8 TSI and the 200 hp 2.0 TSI units, the latter with either a manual or DSG twin clutch automatic gearbox for outstanding safety and driving comfort. The SEAT León Línea R adds an extensive list of standard equipment to its spectacular design and appealing engine range, including ABS and TCS, ESP, low tyre pressure warning, double front airbag, side front airbags and headbags, foglights, dual zone climate control, cruise control, CD MP3 radio and aux-in, and 8 speakers, among others.

Going electric is not just a GM or a Tesla thing. Spanish automaker Seat revealed today its own all electrically-driven vehicle prototype. We’re talking about the Leon Twin Drive Ecomotive vehicle equipped with a lithium-ion battery for urban circuits, connected ingeniously to an internal combustion engine for interurban trips, with optimum consumption level.
The traditional combustion engine has been replaced by an electric one that develops 46 hp and helps the car to hit a top speed of 62 mph. Th autonomy of this car is 31 miles.
The Twin Drive Ecomotive project is a first step towards a 100% electric car, and consists of the development of a hybrid vehicle combining the well-tested efficiency of SEAT’s Ecomotive cars with the advantages offered by electrical propulsion.
Today SEAT presented an electrically-driven vehicle prototype on which the Spanish brand is currently working to Miguel Sebastián, Spanish minister for Industry, Tourism and Business. The SEAT project is an electrically-powered León Twin Drive Ecomotive vehicle equipped with a lithium-ion battery for urban circuits, connected ingeniously to an internal combustion engine for interurban trips, with optimum consumption level. The presentation was made at the SEAT Technical Centre, and was also attended by Antoni Soy, the Catalan government (Generalitat)’s Secretary for Industry and Business as well as the mayors of the municipalities where SEAT’s facilities are located.Representing SEAT were Francisco García Sanz, member of Volkswagen’s Executive committee and Chairman of SEAT’s Board of Directors, and Erich Schmitt, Chairman of SEAT.García Sanz highlighted the importance of this vehicle from the point of view of investment made, not only in environmental terms, but also in the future of the company. “Whereas half-way through the last century we made a decisive contribution to putting a whole generations on wheels, today, 50 years on, we also want to be leading players at the beginning of a process of development and industrialization of this type of car which combines an electric power unit with an internal combustion engine”.None the less, he also underlined the need to involve all stakeholders in order to guarantee sustainable driving in the future: “Product technology by itself is no guarantee for success. The implication of electricity utility companies as well as the clear support from governments is crucial in order to assure mobility and autonomy for the users”.The plan, with a time-scale stretching to 2014, is designed to carry out research, within the field of ‘plug-in’ hybrid propulsion, into the gradual phasing-out of the use of the internal combustion engine so as to launch onto the market SEAT models with very low consumption and environmentally-friendly CO2 emission levels.Later on, the different representatives were provided with a description of the technical aspects of the SEAT León Twin Drive Ecomotive project; the Spanish government’s Minister for industry was taken for a test drive in the vehicle.

Seat will unveil at the Barcelona Motor Show the Ibiza FR, the latest addition to the Ibiza line-up. It is powered by a twin charger 1.4 TSI engine that delivers 150 hp mated to a seven-speed DSG gearbox with steering wheel shift paddles.
The Ibiza FR features new bumpers that lend a more aggressive appearance, featuring front honeycomb slats and a chrome surround on the central grille in combination with the Arrow Design concept. The FR version comes with silver colored door mirrors, 17" rims and twin tailpipe.
Standard equipment includes: ESP, TCS + EBA, ABS, Hill Hold Control, low tyre pressure warning, driver and passenger airbags, head-chest airbag, trip computer, cruise control, climate control, CD radio with MP3 + 6 speakers + Aux-in connection, sports suspension and cornering foglights, among other elements.
The new FR version of the Ibiza introduces several novelties compared with the previous model, which all combine to provide a more intense driving experience. First of all, the brand’s new car is equipped with the efficient 150 hp twin charger 1.4 TSI engine. Thanks to its latest generation technology, this engine provides greater elasticity, brilliant performance and lower fuel consumption figures and emissions levels, and fully complies with EU-5 legislation on the subject.
The Ibiza FR’s powerful engine is mated to a seven-speed DSG gearbox with steering wheel shift paddles. As on the CUPRA version, the gearbox has been developed with sportier software than on the 1.6 model of the Ibiza range.Furthermore, the addition of the XDS system provides greater driving comfort and safety. This electronic system works together with ESP and functions as a self-blocking mechanism. It improves the car’s performance when traction is lost by braking the wheel that loses grip. The new design of the Ibiza FR highlights its sporty looks on the inside as well as on the exterior, with new bumpers that lend a more aggressive appearance, featuring front honeycomb slats and a chrome surround on the central grille in combination with the Arrow Design concept. Other tell-tale exterior elements on the FR are silver coloured door mirrors, specific 17 inch rims or the twin tailpipe to one side.

Want an Audi S3, but can’t swing the cash? Well then the Volkswagen Group’s Spanish bargain-basement brand may be able to help. There is one catch: just like the S3, this car is not available in the U.S.
The Seat Leon shares a platform with the Volkswagen Golf and the Audi A3, so bolting the S3’s 2.0-liter turbocharged engine to make a Leon Cupra was an easy fix. Audi fans don’t get too scared, while the Leon Cupra makes 240 hp, the S3’s price premium buys an extra 21 hp.
The S3 also keeps the quattro all-wheel drive system exclusive. Instead the Leon Cupra keeps the front wheel drive setup of the lesser models, but that does also include XDS and ESP traction control/performance enhancing systems. The whole package is good for a 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) sprint in 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 153 mph.
With the arrival of the 2009 version of the León, the SEAT range’s most powerful and spectacular car now features even more impressive looks thanks to several elements introduced on the interior and the exterior, making it the perfect extension of the León that is making phenomenal strides at the WTCC World Touring Car Championship.
The most obvious is the new silhouette, featuring sophisticated, innovative black honeycomb cooling vents at the front beneath the central grille. The front bumper houses two further black highlights, one at each side, with the word CUPRA immediately visible on the left. The rear features a prominent black moulding at the bottom of the bumper, a polished steel oval tailpipe and the characteristic model name in the centre of the hatch.A side look at the León CUPRA reveals a lower ground clearance compared to the basic León version, making the car look and feel more like a racing unit. The spectacular 18 inch rims, eye-catching wheel arches and black encased door mirrors are all distinctive traits of the SEAT model.
All the interior elements are black clad, replacing the usual light tones on other models. There is a leather steering wheel with aluminium colour inserts and the CUPRA logo at the bottom and a matching gearknob. Further sporty details are the white faced instrument dials and aluminium pedals.Special mention goes to the Leon CUPRA seats, with their true racing bucket styling, featuring integrated headrests and the “CUPRA” badge displayed on the backrests. These seats offer tremendous side support when dealing with corners and driving comfort. An attractive new option is now available in black leather upholstery with white cross-stitching.The same as on the previous version, the new León CUPRA 2009 is equipped with the powerful 240 hp 2.0 TSI engine, which provides brilliant performance and delivers exceptional fuel consumption figures. Top speed is clocked at 247 km/h, 0 to 100 km/h acceleration takes only 6.4 seconds, and it covers a standing kilometre in only 26.4 seconds. At the same time, average combined fuel consumption is listed at 8.3 litres for every 100 km.The new SEAT León CUPRA features such standard equipment as the XDS system, ABS and TCS, ESP with EBA emergency braking, low tyre pressure warning, driver and passenger airbag, side airbag and head airbag, climate control, cornering foglights, trip computer, cruise control, sports suspension and CD radio + MP3 + 8 speakers + Aux-in, among others.

Seat added a new version to its Ibiza line-up: the 1.6 TDI CR engine in both its 5-door and SC versions. It will be available starting June.
The new engine develops 90 hp and will be placed between the current 80 hp 1.4 TDI and 105 hp 1.9 TDI engines and replaces the 90 hp 1.9 TDI engine. It is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
The new engine has a fuel consumption of only 4.2 l/100 km and an emission level of 109 g/km.
The SEAT Ibiza will be available from June with the 90 hp 1.6 TDI CR engine in both its 5-door and SC versions. For the first time, this the Spanish brand’s car is equipped with the common rail system, which gives the engine better performance and significantly reduces all levels of noise, consumption and emissions.Without a doubt, the 90 hp 1.6 TDI CR engine is an attractive option midway between the current 80 hp 1.4 TDI and 105 hp 1.9 TDI engines, replacing the 90 hp 1.9 TDI engine, and signals the gradual start of including the common rail system to the Ibiza range. Mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, the new engine features the DPF particulate filter and fully complies with EU5 emissions legislation which will become mandatory in 2010.The magnificent performance figures speak for themselves, and combine with increasingly low emissions and consumption levels that make the Ibiza one of the most ecological models of its segment. With an engine torque of 230 Nm at 1,500 – 2,500 rpm, average combined consumption registered at only 4.2 l/100 km and emission level of 109 g/km, mean that buyers in Spain of the new 90 hp Ibiza 1.6 TDI CR avoid paying any registration tax.Equipped with this engine, the car is available with the same standard equipment level and optional elements as on the rest of the range.

The SEAT Ibiza is Spain’s version of the Volkswagen Golf, and the budget minded five seater will be celebrating a quarter of a century with a special edition for the Barcelona International Motor Show. The 25th anniversary Ibiza will be available in either the sport coupe or 5 door bodies powered by a very economical 1.4 Liter four cylinder making 85 HP or a 105 HP 1.9 Liter TDI engine. Standard equipment consists of air conditioning, tinted windows, 17 inch rims and USB connectivity. The special edition is easily recognizable from the exterior thanks to unique “25th Anniversary” badges.
SEAT is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its most popular model, the Ibiza, at the Barcelona International Motor Show. The Spanish brand will be highlighting a special version that pays tribute to the first car developed by SEAT as an independent company – an absolute best-seller since its unveiling at the Paris Motor Show in 1984.The Ibiza is now into its fourth generation, and each one can be characterised by its youthful sporty spirit, excellent cost-effectiveness and brilliant performance, making this model a powerful icon for generations of Spanish youth and Spanish motoring alike. The new version of the Ibiza, called “25th anniversary”, will be available in the SC and 5-door body styles equipped with the 85 hp 1.4 and 105 hp 1.9 TDI engines and Sport trim. Equipment includes climate control, dark glass, 17 inch alloy rims, parking position door mirrors, passenger airbag disconnection and USB port + Bluetooth, all for the additional price of 384.27 € on the Diesel engine version and 400 € with the petrol engine (in Spain). On the exterior, the new Ibiza “25th anniversary” differs from the rest of the Ibiza range models with an exclusive logo designed for the occasion. At the same time, SEAT has prepared an exhibit of the four generations for the Barcelona show, where visitors can take a look at the evolution of the Ibiza since its launch.Without a doubt, this is a fitting tribute to a car that has a dedicated chapter in the Spanish brand’s history book. Its aim is to continue being a benchmark in its segment in terms of quality, design and technology, not only in the present but also in the future.

Gone are the R8 inspired wheels, brakes and LED style headlamps. However what’s left ain’t too shabby either. The physical upgrades to the SEAT hatch are a wide mouth front bumper, blacked out double projector headlamps and a reflective black plastic piece that ties the front end together. Housed inside of the blistered arches are a set of 17 inch Sira alloys. Inside the driver sits in some of the most stylish seats ever to be placed in a SEAT. This is one compact that is well deserving of the name hot-hatch, the Bocanegra will be powered by Volkswagen’s twin charged 1.4 Liter TSI engine, pumping out either 150 or 180 HP.
