The car will be inspired by the classic rear-drive AE86 Toyota Corolla GT coupe from the 1980s. But, the Subaru version will also get its design by the Impreza, although it will shortened, lightened and will have a coupe body.
The 2010 RWD Coupe (we don’t know the name yet) will be powered by 2.0-liter flat four engine that will deliver 175bhp (for the naturally aspired version). Subaru will also unveil a 2.5-liter turbocharged version few months after the standard version.
Subaru will also give up the standard four-wheel drive system in order to save weight. Both companies will adopt the RWD system in order to make the car more compact, lightweight and faster.
The main market for the upcoming model will be North America, but will also be offered in Japan and Europe.

New sedans usually aren’t that exciting, but Subaru was able to take the Legacy from a concept version at the Geneva Motor Show in March to a production to be shown next week in New York.
We like the Legacy because of the distinction it provides. For those who choose the family sedan, it can sometimes be hard to stick out from the crowd without taking styling to the extreme. The Legacy has always been relatively attractive and is distinctively a Japanese sedan. It’s also sold in numbers in the U.S. that ensure it won’t get lost in the mall parking lot.
When the new Legacy arrives for the 2010 model year, the engine lineup will be improved. The base 2.5-liter boxer four cylinder makes the same 170 hp as in the previous model, but Subaru claims the fuel economy is improved. The turbocharged version of this engine available in the 2.5GT has been raised from 243 hp to 265 hp. The line is now topped by a 3.6-liter six cylinder boxer engine (its the one from the WRX). It offers 11 more hp than the 3.0-liter unit it replaces, and this one runs on regular gas (the 3.0 required premium fuel).

Subaru was having a little bit of trouble moving Legacy wagons in the mid-90s, so it raised the ride hight and added a little body cladding. The Outback was born, and since then it’s gone to replace the entire Legacy wagon line in the U.S. Since Subaru used the New York Auto Show to premiere the production version of the new Legacy sedan, then it’s no surprise the Outback was right there too.
The engine lineup is straight out of the new Legacy. There is a choice of the 170 hp 2.5-liter boxer four or the 256 hp 3.6-liter boxer six (the 2.5-liter turbocharged engine in the Legacy is skipped.) The new outback is wider, longer and taller than its predecessor, and offers the same distinctive “cat eye” look of the Legacy sedan.

The third-generation Forester is a new-generation crossover SUV from Subaru, a car that meets the demands and needs of everyday driving. It has been designed around the concept of Best Package for Active Life, which blends high levels of comfort, performance, versatility, and safety to create the best and most versatile vehicle for drivers and their families to enjoy an active lifestyle.Since its launch in February 1997 the Forester has earned accolades in Japan and overseas as a crossover SUV that combines passenger car comfort, handling and convenience with the high seating points and rugged off-road capability of an SUV.

Based on the concept of a seven-seater with panoramic visibility for the touring experience, the EXIGA has been developed to provide a safe and pleasant journey for all occupants. Capitalizing on its accumulated know-how from building wagons and crossover SUVs, Subaru has succeeded in creating open and comfortable interior space for all the passengers to easily engage in conversation and share the experience of touring enhanced by dramatic wide-angle views through the windows.
The new model represents Subaru’s latest proposal for a new type of multi-passenger vehicle, built on Subaru’s strengths in vehicle stability, low noise, and quality ride —all realized by Subaru’s Horizontally-Opposed engine layout and the Subaru Dynamic Chassis Control Concept (Subaru DC3).
The Exiga is being offered in four different versions: 2.0i is the basic model with selected standard equipment, priced in a more affordable range, 2.0i-L offers high quality finishes and expanded standard equipment, 2.0i-S is a sporty model with a naturally aspirated engine, featuring dynamic powerful styling and interior designs and 2.0GT is a grand touring car that combines potent powertrain performance with environmental considerations.

It will be available in both 4-Door and 5-Door version, and like all Subaru models, the Impreza WRX and 2.5GT models are equipped with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. The 2.5-liter DOHC turbocharged engine delivers 224hp at 5,200rpm and a peak torque of 226lb.-ft. at 2,800rpm - same as in the WRX.
Where the WRX is more about performance, the new 2.5GT is a little more about comfort. It features as standard Impreza Premium Package equipment, including glass moonroof and an All-Weather Package.

2009 Subaru Forester XTI Concept Subaru will present at the SEMA Show the Forester XTI, a concept based on the Forester 2.5XT, while adding elements from the Impreza WRX STI.
The Forester XTI starts with the same drivetrain as the Impreza WRX STI, and then a stainless steel cat-back exhaust system from the Subaru Performance Tuning raises the output to 315 hp (up from 305) and 300 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine is mated to a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission.
The XTI Concept is fitted with 18 x 8-in. S204 forged alloy wheels, adjustable coil-over suspension, Brembo brakes, 4-piston front calipers, 2-piston rear calipers, Super Sport ABS and Electronic Brake-force Distribution.
Although there are a lot of extra add-ons to this car, we may be looking at something that is ready for production. After all, the Forester XT already uses the engine from the standard WRX, and the Forester and Impreza share so many major components (like the platform) that most WRX STI parts could easily fit in the Forester.
Subaru of America, Inc. today revealed the Forester® XTI Concept. It will be unveiled to the public at the 2008 Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) Show, which runs at the Las Vegas Convention Center Nov. 4-7. The Forester XTI Concept combines the versatility of the all-new Forester 2.5XT with the all-out street performance of the rally-bred Impreza® WRX STI. All new for 2009, the Forester was named MOTOR TREND magazine’s SUV of the Year. The magazine applauded the new Forester’s combination of performance, utility, comfort, safety technology and value in giving it the award. MOTOR TREND editor Angus MacKenzie, citing the judges’ unanimous decision, said, “The Subaru Forester is the SUV for our times.” The new Forester XTI Concept is an SUV for 0-60 times, estimated to hit the mark in less than 5 seconds.
Practically Wicked
Can a vehicle be both wicked and practical? The Subaru Forester XTI answers with a roomy interior and a lot of turbo boost. The Forester XTI ultra-performance CUV inherits the full STI treatment, with parts developed by Subaru Tecnica International (STI), the high-performance and motorsports subsidiary of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. The “Wicked” portion starts with the styling, which is set off by a custom Atmospheric “Re-Entry” paint scheme. The front lower spoiler and Sport Mesh Grille are from the Subaru Genuine Accessory catalog and are joined by a JDM body kit, including side skirts, a rear skirt and a gate spoiler. Designed and built by Subaru of America technicians, the crew installed the engine and entire drivetrain from the Impreza WRX STI. In the Forester XTI, a custom stainless steel cat-back exhaust system from the Subaru Performance Tuning (SPT) catalog helps to raise output of the 2.5-liter intercooled turbo engine to 315 hp (from 305 stock) and 300 lb.-ft. of torque (from 290 lb.-ft. stock). As in the WRX STI, power flows through a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission and the Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD) version of Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. The DCCD system offers three selectable automatic performance modes in addition to six manual center differential-locking settings. The 18 x 8-in. S204 forged alloy wheels are by STI and are wrapped in Yokohama Advan Neova 255/40R18 performance tires. The Forester XTI also features an adjustable coil-over suspension by STI. The powerful Brembo brakes come right from the stock WRX STI, with 4-piston front calipers, 2-piston rear calipers, Super Sport ABS and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). Inside, the Forester XTI features leather and Alcantara sport seats, a special instrument cluster, front dash and center console and leather-wrapped steering wheel.

2009 Subaru Impreza WRX 5-door SPT Subaru decided to see what happens when they create a modified WRX when they let their fingers do the walking. The Impreza WRX SPT was created using parts from the Subaru Genuine Accessory and SPT catalogs. It features standard factory Aero Body Kit, a front lip spoiler by STI and Subaru genuine Accessory fog light protectors, 19x8-in. wheels by OZ Racing.
Under the hood there is 2.5-liter intercooled turbo Boxer engine that thanks to a SPT cat-back exhaust now delivers 275 hp (that’s 10 more than the standard WRX, but 30 less than the WRX STI).
How far can you take an Impreza WRX using parts from the Subaru Genuine Accessory and SPT catalogs? Pretty far, it turns out. Subaru mined both catalogs to come up with a combination of performance, styling and user technology that any enthusiast could easily duplicate — all at once or by adding parts over time. The resulting car makes a unique performance and design statement while remaining true to the WRX’s everyday drivability character and value. The 2009 Impreza WRX already comes with a standard factory Aero Body Kit, so external mods were limited to a front lip spoiler by STI and Subaru genuine Accessory fog light protectors. The more hunkered-down stance is courtesy of STI performance springs and Botticelli III 19x8-in. wheels by OZ Racing. A lower chassis brace and strut tower brace from the SPT catalog round out the chassis mods.Subaru boosted the WRX’s 2.5-liter intercooled turbo Boxer engine to 265 hp 244 lb.-ft. for 2009; this special WRX raises that to 275 hp and 250 lb.-ft. with a SPT cat-back exhaust. The driver can make the most of the power with the help of an STI short-throw shifter. The under-hood area gets a visual boost with an SPT oil cap, turbo heat shield and battery hold-down.

Which is more important? a. leather seats b. 95 more horsepower
Which do you prefer on an open road? a. automatic transmission b. manual transmission
What is a Sunday drive? a. antiquing b. ditching the family to go to the mountain road that the cops don’t know about
For the few who actually answered “a”, we’re sorry for interrupting your search for Cat Fancy Online - please keep surfing because the following does not apply to you.
For the rest of us who actually like to use cars not just as an appliance but also as a source of entertainment, here’s some obvious news: Subaru likes to make cars for real drivers.
The Subaru Impreza WRX is a favorite of many enthusiasts because the formula works well. Take a standard Impreza sedan that already has an impressive all-wheel drive system, and then add 95 more horsepower, racing seats, performance suspension and bigger tires. The result is an everyday rally car at a bargain price.

Subaru will unveil a special edition Impreza WRX STI at the Chicago Auto Show. It was designed for its factory rally driver Travis Pastrana.
The Pastrana WRX STI come with a stock 305 hp, SPT front strut tower brace and SPT lower chassis brace, BF Goodrich G-Force Super Sport A/S 275/35 ZR18 tires on Work Evolution XD-9 18 x 9-in. wheels in custom satin black.
The rally-bred WRX STI exterior design lights up with custom yellow paint and graphics. The carbon fiber hood and carbon fiber rear wing are unique to the Pastrana’s WRX STI. As on the stock production WRX STI, the functional hood scoop streams outside air to an intercooler. The Sport Mesh Grille is available for all WRX STI owners. Likewise, the STI front chin spoiler and the exhaust finishers are available through Subaru dealers. A set of PIAA 2100 HID driving lights and rally-spec mud flaps underscore the aggressive rally-bred design of the 5-door WRX STI.
Subaru of America, Inc. will show a one-of-a-kind Subaru Impreza WRX STI designed for its factory rally driver Travis Pastrana at the Chicago Auto Show, February 13-22 in McCormick Place. Subaru worked with Pastrana to create a brilliant yellow "199" liveried WRX STI to commemorate his third consecutive Rally America National Championship. Pastrana is scheduled to appear at the Chicago Auto Show to sign autographs in the Subaru booth February 14th and 15th.Winner of nine X Games Gold Medals, two for X Games Rally competition, Pastrana’s street ride had to be as formidable on the road as his racing WRX STI is on the rally circuit. The Travis Pastrana WRX STI is not only a visual stunner, but also amps up performance capability of the stock production Impreza WRX STI. Vermont SportsCar, technical partner for Subaru and builder of the team’s rally cars, customized the WRX STI using an array of Subaru Performance Tuning (SPT) and STI parts, along with unique custom pieces. The SPT and STI engine, exhaust, chassis and interior parts showcased on the Travis Pastrana WRX STI are available for any WRX STI through authorized Subaru dealers.

The A-Line uses the same 2.5-liter turbo from the standard WRX to make 300 hp (down 5 hp from the U.S. spec WRX). Aside from the slushbox, there is little to differentiate the A-Line from the rest of the WRX STIs except for a new paint color called "Satin White Pearl". Maybe this is so we can identify the manual tranny virgins.
Japan can keep this one.

In doing so, the Impreza has grown up. Our $28,000 Satin White Pearl Suabru Impreza GT is fun to drive with its 2.5 Liter turbocharged boxer engine sending 224 HP to all four 17 inch wheels wrapped in low profile 205/50 tires and a comfortable, yet cloth, interior that was just as aggressive as the ride, but the best part is, how the Impreza GT flies under the radar and stays between the lines.

The new STI Spec C will be built in a limited run of only 900 units and will be availbel in unique finishes like Sunrise Yellow and Pure White. The idea of the Spec C is to enhance the engine’s potential and increase performance by stiffening the chassis and incorporating a few light weight components which makes the best foundation for a fully built race car. The ECU is upgraded right from the factory so now the new ball bearing turbocharged DOHC 16 valve flat four EJ20 engine now delivers 308 HP and 311 lb-ft of torque. The Spec C comes complete with an aluminum hood, smaller battery, lighter windows and some new 18 inch alloy wheels.
The car’s handling is improved by a reinforced front end, stiffer springs and shock absorbers, larger anti-roll bars and upgraded sub frame bushings. The engineers at Subaru Technica International also decided that the Spec C would benefit from a mechanical Limited Slip Differential in the back as opposed to the standard models gear type LSD.
